Are record temperatures caused by climate or weather?

Watching extreme warm periods being reported revealed that the air mass was coming from desert regions amplifying the weather. There is no CO2 molecule causing isolated warm weather, as every situation can be resolved to a root cause. Warmer climate will increase the plausibility of record temperatures but it is weather that causes the record.
